"Half the Sky" foundation supply warm
This project was
originated from the American families who have adopted
children from Chinese welfare institute. Lovely children
bring them happiness so they want to do some meanful things
for the remainder children. They organize to establish
the "half the sky" foundation. Under the lead
of president of the foundation,JennyBovey, they raised
funds, operated with us for cooperative projects. "Half
the Sky" little sisters preschool education is one
of them.

 "Half the Sky" foundation supply warm,comfortable,
relaxed study environment and more advanced teaching facilities
and engage a proschool education expert-Doctor ZhaoWen
as the guiding teacher.The project put to use Italian
Rigero preschool education model,evoke the utmost attentation
of education circles from all over the world.Compare with
the traditional model,this project base itself upon chilren's
interest,teachers establish the topic with children together,and
impart knowledge and skills properly by the activicy form
with which all kinds of art performance. This method can
help children to probe freely and positively in a comfortable,
novel environment.

The project began
from Aug.2000, divided into two classes with which 3
young teachers graduated from teachers college for infant.
There were 20 children aged 2 to 3 in bottom class and
the same number aged 4 to 8 in top class. Though one
year's practise with ChangZhou Welfare Institute, we
gained the success. In the first year, children were
all sound in body and mind. In their sentiment aspect,
the children have trusted in not only the teachers,
but also others and the environment, took care of their
little friends. To the visitors, they showed the polite,
shared the toys, introduced their works.They didn't
require excessive demands and show unlimited friendship
like some children who were extreme thirsty for something.
So they have their communication ability developed farthest,
and paved the way for the coming to the society. In
the cognition aspect, they were all absent-minded at
the beginning, but little by little, they began to concentrate
their attention to develope their "project topic"
purposefully and cooperatively. In various art performance,
they improved the ability of language, thinking, action
and drawing fully.

In the year, the
people from internal and external came here visit, study
and show their encouragement and give us evaluation. An
American educationist CarolineAdelva wrote an article
when he visited here, he said:" I felt the teachers'
enthusiasm, professional skill and capability of leading
children to communication at first, then, second, the
children's join in complicated games and the confidence
when they communicate with little friends and adults." |

There is no perfect
education model, it must be combine with local culture
and background. On the one hand, absord the marrow of
Regero's theory, on the other hand, combine with the reality
of our institute and the impart of knowledge, it's sure
to make up for the defect of knowledge. So we'll attempt
to probe a education way which most fit for children's
development in Chinese welfare institutes by combination
typical Chinese "Artistic quality and skill"
education model with the Regero modern advanced theory
to give the rein of children's subjective activity. |
